Keywest Estate Agents / Jun 25

Put your property on the market with Keywest right now, and let us help you join the ranks of East Midlands vendors who are currently able to demand record-breaking asking prices.

New figures from Rightmove have shown that in June the East Midlands saw a boom in asking prices, reflected in a national average rise of £8,218. The current average asking price in the region now stands at £183, 234 – making it the fifth-best-performing area in the country in terms of prices, only beaten by Greater London, the South East, the East of England and the South West.

The statistics show that asking prices rose at a rate of three per cent from May to June 2015, largely in response to the outcome of the general election. This represented the biggest monthly hike since February 2014. This followed an upturn in demand after David Cameron was re-elected as prime minister.

Buyers are already responding to the change in the market sentiment, spurred on by increased confidence in taxation and economic policies of the future, and vendors look set to follow.

The report found that overall in England there was a fall of 3.9 per cent in the number of new homes being offered for sale, meaning that if you are a would-be vendor in the East Midlands, you are perfectly placed to let Keywest help you to take full advantage of the current market conditions.

June saw asking prices rising in almost all regions of England, although there were falls in the North East and in Wales. This marks the resurgence that was expected after the general election and the end to the price standstill experienced by some sellers in the UK prior to the Tory win.

There is no doubt that the price momentum began in the south as a result of an acute imbalance when it comes to property supply and demand, but this wave of increases has been sweeping north, and the East Midlands is now firmly entrenched in a very positive period for those people looking to sell right now.
