Leicester has made it into the top ten list of the best cities in Britain for start-up businesses, and in the first three months of this year a record-breaking 1,845 companies registered as new businesses in the county of Leicestershire.

There is now more reason than ever before to invest in property in Leicester, as its business community is booming.

There has also been a recent announcement that there are currently in excess of 20 businesses, including training companies and those working within the textile industry, that have expressed an active interest in investing in the Leicester area.

This means that now is the ideal time to buy property in the area, whether you are looking to set up your own business within a successful community, want to take advantage of the job opportunities in the area or rent out your properties to others working in the region.

Start-up Success

In a list of the 25 best British cities to set up and grow a business, business website Startups placed Leicester in an impressive tenth place. A variety of information and data was used to create the list, including the impact of property prices, weekly earnings, crime rates, the number of universities and the number of businesses starting up in a year.

Other factors that were considered included how well new start-ups fared, the working-age population of an area, average road and broadband speeds, opportunities for businesses in terms of mentorship, office space and grants, and the number of dedicated science parks within an area. The list was based on information gathered between 2009 and 2014.

Kevin Harris, a partner at PKF Cooper Parry, a Castle Donnington-based business and accountancy advisory firm, said that Leicester’s success as a business hub for start-ups is based largely on the promotion and support of science parks and universities in the area, along with the fact that it has long been a centre for entrepreneurs.

Advice on Offer

Nick Pridden is an example of how start-ups can succeed in Leicester. He founded SNP Training, a first-aid training firm based in Ruby Street. He said that those looking at starting up a business should fully investigate the grants and investment opportunities available to them. He also advised businesses to help guarantee their own survival by ensuring they consistently provide a superior level of service at a competitive price and place a strong emphasis on building a good reputation.
