Leicester west end property is increasingly popular with families, first-time buyers and second-home owners looking to buy property in an area that offers a great mix of value for money and exceptional amenities.

The area lies between Westcotes’ period villas and lively Braunstone Gate and is a multi-cultural area bursting with great food and brilliant bars. There are lots of alternative businesses in the area, too, and a friendly neighbourhood feel that makes it ideal for growing families.

The prices mean that great value is still on offer for property buyers looking at the West End, even though the area is benefiting from regeneration projects that have taken place in and around the neighbourhood over recent years.

There are many people who are choosing to buy into the area for the long term. Some will start out in smaller two-bedroom terraced houses or apartments, only to make a future move to South Narborough Road’s semi-detached homes for families.

A major attraction of property in the West End of Leicester is the diversity on offer, from the Bede Island residential development and new riverside apartments to factory conversions, period villas and character homes.

There is never a shortage of things to do in the West End thanks to its abundance of shops and bars. It is also an excellent location for those who want to live somewhere with easy access to the city centre and motorways or to the Fosse Retail Park, which is just down Narborough Road.

There is plenty of educational provision in the area, ranging from nursery schools to De Montfort University, and all that the city centre has to offer is only a short hop by bus or a leisurely walk away.

Day-to-day needs are fully catered for in the West End, however, from Westcotes Library, a medical centre, hairdressers, family-run restaurants and bar-bistros to a tattoo parlour, takeaways, grocery stores and a Tesco superstore.

For the fitness enthusiast, there are leisure facilities within a ten-minute stroll, along with the opportunities offered by the Great Central Way cycle and footpath and nearby Western Park and the other green areas that are dotted around.

Along with the natural beauty provided by the 72 hectares of Western Park, it also boasts no fewer than seven football pitches, a baseball field, tennis courts, cricket wickets and a bowling green.

At night there is certainly no shortage of things to do in the West End. Music lovers can easily find the tunes they like in the many pubs, bistros and bars, which play everything from soul and reggae to indie and house.
