Our ever-changing supply of Leicester rental properties means that Keywest is in pole position when it comes to helping you to find your next home – and the type of tenancy that you want.

New research has shown that most people looking to rent in the private sector in Britain want short- to medium-term leases rather than long leases, but at Keywest we always have plenty of options available to meet your needs.

A new study has revealed that more than three-quarters of tenants in Britain want leases lasting between half a year and two years. Only one in five said that they were looking for longer leases lasting from 24 months to five years. This is believed to reflect the desire by many to enjoy the flexibility that shorter leases can provide.

The research also found that more than half of all tenants would like to move into a better property once finances allow. If this is you, and the time is now right to make your next move, Keywest is on hand to offer the specialist knowledge and quality stock to make your property aspirations a reality.

Many tenants also want the opportunity to put their own stamp on a rental property to make it more like home, and we are perfectly placed to help find the right property and landlord for you if this is a priority.

It certainly seems to a consideration for many, as the latest piece of rental property research reveals that more than 60 per cent of people in rental properties want to redecorate their homes, and more than 50 per cent would like to change floor coverings or carpets. Almost a quarter of tenants (23 per cent) would like decking installed, 18 per cent would like a hot tub and 13 per cent want a patio created.

We do work with landlords who are willing to allow tenants to make changes to properties to meet their needs, although it is important to point out that alterations, including redecoration, should never be made without prior consent.

The latest figures relating to the Tenancy Deposit Scheme show that unauthorised redecoration is a common cause of disputes between landlords and tenants, accounting for more than a quarter (32 per cent) of all cases. This highlights the importance of securing prior written consent and adhering to landlord specifications in order to avoid disputes in the future.
