The city’s outer estates will be an even more attractive prospect when it comes to buying a Leicester property thanks to an improved Roadworks Programme

The city council has just announced the start of a two-week improvement programme on five residential streets in New Parks. The £114,000 scheme is part of a wider project of improvements.

The maintenance work will feature repairs and major resurfacing and is part of the city council’s commitment to investing in the communities who live in Leicester’s outer estates.

The work was scheduled to start on Monday (September 26) and will involve works on New Park Parks Boulevard and Bonney Road, up to the New Parks Crescent junction.

Works were then planned to continue on Stenson Road, where £30,000 of resurfacing and patch repairs was scheduled, and then it will be the turn of Park Rise between Shire Close and New Parks Way to benefit from the city council’s commitment to improvements.

Carriageway resurfacing will close the Wembley Road and Scudamore Road junction, along with all of Wembley Road, on October the first and second to allow for £25,000 of resurfacing work.

There are also plans for more resurfacing work on Sharmon Crescent, between Piccaver Rise and Whitman Road, although a date for these improvements has yet to be announced.

The programme of road repairs is being made possible as a result of funding from the Highway Capital Maintenance Programme of Leicester City Council.

The council says it is taking a proactive approach in order to reduce road-related issues in the city’s outer estates, including on the five residential streets in the New Parks area.

The work was planned to be completed before the arrival of winter weather in order to benefit the communities living in Leicester’s outer estates.

The New Parks area is a residential suburb which sits to the west of Leicester city centre and is near to Glenfield village and the Leicestershire border. The Western Park city ward sits to the south of New Parks, to the north is Beaumont Leys and the Fosse ward lies to the east.

The area boasts a wide selection of shops and leisure facilities, and it is well served by a selection of primary schools and the New College Leicester secondary school. This makes it a popular choice for families looking for their perfect property in Leicester.
